The Need

Local races hold critical power over the essential issues important to our families -- from social services and housing to natural resources, education and jobs. Unfortunately, local elections gain little attention from voters and even less from the political institutions and grassroots donors that our democracy relies upon to fuel campaigns.

Too few of our community members ever consider running for office, especially women, people of color and people with limited economic resources. We need a community culture that encourages a variety of people to run for office while helping candidates overcome the obstacles to running for office.

The Solution

The Strengthening Central Oregon (SCOPAC) is a Community PAC supporting the candidates working to meet the essential needs of our communities. SCOPAC puts people first, working for candidates who have common-sense solutions to the pressing issues facing our communities. SCOPAC works to recruit and mentor candidates from under-represented communities in politics and provides early campaign dollars and supports like family meals, childcare and campaign strategy for our candidates.
